FIrewall-as-a-Service (FWaaS) 5-Tuple
Cloud Firewall-as-a-Service (FWaaS) 5-Tuple provides centralized, policy-based network filtering that evaluates traffic against ordered rules before it navigates protected boundaries.
Administrators define allow or deny rules using match criteria. For example, IP, CIDR, ports, protocols, and so on.
The purpose of FWaaS 5-Tuple support within a Secure Service Edge (SSE) platform is to provide scalable, cloud-delivered network traffic control based on the fundamental attributes of a connection such as source IP address, destination IP address, source port, destination port, and protocol. By enforcing security policies using these elements, the SSE platform enables granular inspection and filtering of traffic regardless of user location, device, or network. This capability allows organizations to define precise access controls and services, block unauthorized communications, and reduce attack surface. In an SSE architecture, FWaaS 5-tuple support ensures consistent, centralized policy enforcement across branch offices, remote users, and cloud environments while improving visibility, simplifying management, and strengthening zero-trust network security posture.
